Nagpur: International paddler Jennifer Varghese from the city has added another milestone to her illustrious career by winning the Youth Girls’ title at the UTT 86th Inter-State Junior and Youth National Table Tennis Championship held in Vadodara.
In the Under-17 Girls’ Singles final, Maharashtra’s Jennifer showcased her exceptional skills, defeating teammate Divyanshi Bhowmick 4-1 (11-7, 11-8, 4-11, 11-7, 11-7) in a highly engaging contest. After a challenging season earlier, Jennifer regained her form at the right time, blending aggressive play with precision to secure the championship.
Her journey to the title included a decisive win in the quarterfinals against Syndrela Das, halting the Bengal player’s strong run. In the semifinals, Jennifer outmaneuvered left-hander and fellow Maharashtra paddler Riana Bhoote, effectively countering her cautious gameplay with accuracy and adaptability.
This marks Jennifer’s third national title. She previously won the Under-12 National Championship in 2019 and the Under-15 title in 2023. With this latest victory, she now holds the Under-17 National Champion title, further solidifying her status as one of the most promising talents in Indian table tennis.
