Ashadeep Apang Mahila-Bal Vikas Sanstha, Nagpur in collaboration with the Innerwheel Club of Nagpur organised a street play competition on the topic “Differently-abled and Society,”. The programme was held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, for both regular and differently-abled students to promote awareness about differently-abled people in society. The event held at the Matruseva Sangh’s Ranjan Sabhagruh also organised an exhibition of books in Braille for visually impaired students.

Dr. Lata Deshmukh, the Secretary of Matruseva Sangh, presided over the ceremony and Mrs. Arundhati Mahajan, President of the Bhagini Mandal, Nagpur, was the chief guest. In her opening remarks, Dr. Pratima Shastri, President of Ashadeep, emphasized that the organization continues to host events aligned with its goals of acceptance, inclusion, and empowerment of differently-abled individuals. She expressed confidence that the street play competition would bring society closer to being more inclusive. Dr. Sheela Kulkarni, President of the Innerwheel Club of Nagpur, introduced the club’s social activities and expressed satisfaction at joining hands with Ashadeep in such meaningful events.
In her speech, Mrs. Arundhati Mahajan appreciated the concept of the street play competition for social awareness and Dr. Lata Deshmukh urged everyone to stay concerned for the inclusion of differently-abled people in society and wished all teams the best. All the speakers appreciated the concept of street play of ‘Ashadeep’ Sanstha for creating awareness about the challenges faced by differently abled and their determination to succeed in life.

All the teams wonderfully presented their plays by understanding the theme of the competition. The performance of all the students was very touchy. Before declaring the results of the competition, Snehangan school, Matru seva sangh, presented beautiful yoga dance on the song Vande Mataram, Ma tuzhe salam.
Mrs. Shraddha Telang, Mrs. Smita Limaye, and Adv. Vandana Navghare served as judges for the street play competition. The judges announced the results and shared their thoughts. The prize distribution was doneat the hands of Mr. Pravin Mondhe, CEO of the Social Welfare Department. All participating teams were awarded cash prizes for encouragement, and special prizes were given to the winning teams. All participants were awarded certificates.
The event was hosted by Mrs. Aparna Kulkarni, Secretary of Ashadeep, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Supriya Kekatpure.
