Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal scored a century each, helping India reach their highest-ever total of 435/5 in the third and final women’s ODI against Ireland on Wednesday.
Mandhana (135) and Rawal (154) formed a massive 233-run partnership, providing a strong foundation for India after they chose to bat first.
Richa Ghosh, known for her big hitting, followed up with a rapid 59, further boosting India’s total as the Irish bowlers struggled to break the momentum.
Medium pacer Orla Prendergast was the most successful bowler for Ireland, claiming two wickets for 71 runs.
Skipper Smriti Mandhana set a new record for the fastest century by an Indian woman in One-Day Internationals, reaching the milestone in just 70 balls during the third ODI against Ireland. Leading the team in the absence of regular captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Mandhana dazzled with 12 boundaries and seven sixes in her explosive 135-run innings before being dismissed at short fine leg by Orla Prendergast.
Mandhana broke the previous record held by Harmanpreet Kaur, who had scored a century in 87 balls against South Africa in Bengaluru last year. Mandhana’s century is now the joint-seventh fastest in One-Day Internationals, matching Charlotte Edwards’ record from 2012.
This milestone marked Mandhana’s 10th ODI century, which moves her into a tie for third place on the all-time list for most centuries in women’s ODIs, alongside England’s Tammy Beaumont. The record is topped by former Australia captain Meg Lanning (15) and New Zealand’s Suzie Bates (13).
Brief Score: India 435/5 in 50 overs (Pratika Rawal 154, Smriti Mandhana 135; Orla Prendergast 2/71)
