The Accountant General (Audit) II, Maharashtra, Nagpur under the Patronship of Mr. Datta prasad Shirsat, IAAS, Accountant General (Audit), Nagpur. The matches were played on Round-Robin basis, at Shivaji Stadium, Police Headquarters, Katol Road, Nagpur. Thus, A.G. Gujarat and A.G. Madhya Pradesh qualified for the Inter Zonal Football Tournament slated to be held in Shillong, Meghalaya from 11th to 14th March 2025, where they will meet the Winners and Runners of rest of the three zones.
In the Matches played today AG Maharashtra defeated AG Gujarat 2-0 and AG Madhya Pradesh blanked AG Rajasthan 5-0.
With the target to win with a goal difference of 8 goals to qualify against AG Gujarat, AG Maharashtra could manage 2-0 at the final whistle. Sumit Pundir of AG Maharashtra opened the teams account with a classic field goal in the 11th minute of the match, but the hosts failed to convert the many opportunities which came in their way.
Half time score read 1-0. In the second half AG Maharashtra were on the attack right from the start but they were not able to penetrate the AG Gujarat’s defense. In the dying moments of the match, Afzal Akhtar of AG Maharashtra scored a superb field goal in the 69th minute to make it 2-0 for the host but the score was not enough to put AG Maharashtra ahead of AG Gujarat’s goal difference. Sumit Pundir was named player of the match.
In the earlier match between A.G. Madhya Pradesh and A.G. Rajasthan, AG Madhya Pradesh went into the lead when Ravindra Kharab hit a field goal in the 10th minute. Sunny Das with a superb header made the score 2-0 and then it was again Ravindra Kharab hit another field goal in the 14th minute. Half time score read 3-0. In the second half, two superb goals by Abhishek Rattu in the 41st and 52nd minute saw AG Madhya Pradesh seal the match in their favour 5-0. Abhishek Rattu was named player of the match.
Sukhdev Shivaji Patil of AG Maharashtra was awarded the best Goal keeper, Sourabh Rawat of AG Madhya Pradesh, the best Forward, Yash Shukla of AG Madhya Pradesh, the best Defender, Abhishek Rattu of AG Madhya Pradesh, the best Midfielder, while Syed Suhail Pasha of AG Gujarat, was awarded the Player of the Tournament.
In the prize distribution function, Ms. Jaya Bhagat, IAAS, Principal Accountant General (A&E), Maharashtra, Nagpur,gave the prizes and trophy to the winning team, A.G. Madhya Pradesh. Shri Mr. Dattaprasad Shirsat, IAAS, Accountant General (Audit), Nagpur, gave the Runners Trophy to the A.G. Gujarat Team and congratulated the winning and runners teams and wished them luck for future matches.
Departmental Referees nominated by Head Quarters for the Tournament are S. Samson Raj (of PAG Tamil Nadu), AttaulhaKhan (of A.G. Uttar Pradesh), C. Leo (of AG Karnataka)and Mr. Jai Kishore (of PAG, New Delhi), while Amit Ranjan Yadav (of DGA Gorakhpur) and Amit Nandi (of A.G. West Begal) are the selectors, ensured that the Tournament was conducted smoothly.
Dinesh Mate, Sr. DAG, Akshay Khandare, Sr. DAG, Dr. Bhushan Bhirud, Sr. DAG, Ms B. Manimozhi, DAG, Ms. Meghna Jain DAG, Shri Mangesh Tongo, Sr. Audit Officer Welfare and large number of officers and staff members were present on the occasion.Members of various committees like reception, ground, transport, accommodation, food, and MTS staff worked tirelessly to make the tournament a grand success.
