In a remarkable achievement towards ensuring safe, hygienic, and nutritious food for passengers, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has awarded the prestigious ‘Eat Right Station’ certification to seven key railway stations under the Nagpur Division of Central Railway. These stations include Nagpur, Amla, Betul, Ballarshah, Chandrapur, Wardha, and Sewagram.
The ‘Eat Right Station’ certification is a testament to the Nagpur Division’s commitment to food safety and passenger welfare. As part of the assessment process, FSSAI conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the food establishments at these stations, focusing on food safety protocols, hygiene practices, nutritional standards, and overall cleanliness. The inspection covered restaurants, food stalls, water hygiene, and vendor hygiene to ensure adherence to the highest standards of food safety.
This certification is an integral part of FSSAI’s ‘Eat Right Movement,’ launched in 2018, which aims to transform India’s food systems and promote healthy eating habits. To uphold and further enhance these standards, the Nagpur Division of Central Railway will conduct monthly inspections of all food establishments at certified stations. Additionally, regular training sessions for food vendors will be organized to reinforce hygiene, nutrition, and safety protocols. Strict action will be taken against any violations to maintain the highest level of compliance.
The success of this initiative is the result of a collaborative effort between Marico Limited Mumbai, FSSAI, and Central Railway Nagpur Division.
As the Nagpur Division of Central Railway remains steadfast in its mission to enhance the travel experience, this certification marks a significant milestone in infrastructure development, passenger safety, and service excellence. With an unwavering commitment to quality and hygiene, the division continues to prioritize passenger satisfaction across its network.
