The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell is set to introduce stricter security protocols to prevent malpractice and ensure a fair admission process. The new measures include CCTV surveillance, live streaming, body cameras on invigilators, and multi-step photo verification to enhance transparency.
Enhanced Surveillance and Monitoring
To curb cheating, CCTV cameras will be installed in all examination halls, with live footage streamed to a centralized control room for real-time monitoring. This will allow officials to detect any irregularities immediately. Additionally, invigilators will be equipped with body cameras to record both student activities and the actions of exam supervisors.
Strict Identity Verification
Candidates will undergo multiple levels of photo verification to prevent impersonation. A photograph will be taken at three stages—during CET registration, at the time of the exam, and during the admission process. All images must match to confirm the candidate’s identity.
Additional Security Measures Under Consideration
Authorities are also exploring further steps to strengthen surveillance and close any loopholes. While most test centers already have CCTV cameras, plans are underway to implement live monitoring from a centralized control room for more effective oversight. Discussions are ongoing to finalize these enhancements.
The CET Cell conducts admissions for professional courses such as engineering, medicine, law, and nursing. With over 18 entrance exams held for undergraduate and postgraduate programs, thousands of students participate in the centralised admission process each year. The new security measures aim to ensure fairness and integrity at every stage.
