Shri Mathuradas Mohota College of Science, Nagpur, successfully organized the state-level seminar competition ‘SciStorm’ This competition was held to celebrate National Science Day and involved participation across five categories and two levels (UG and PG) from seven departments. The topics of the competition aligned with the National Science Day 2025 theme: ‘Empowering Indian Youth for a Global Leadership Role in Science and Innovations for Developed India.’
Students from various districts of Maharashtra, including Nagpur, Amravati, Gadchiroli, and Pune, participated in five streams, namely Life, Earth, Mathematical, Computer, and Physical Sciences through a hybrid mode (both online and offline) of participation. The panel of judges who evaluated the students included Dr. Zeenat Kashmiri, Mr. Avinash Londhe, Prof. Archana Sawane, and Prof. Ashwajit Fulzele for Life Sciences; Mr. Sudhir Agarmore and Dr. Shweta Mankar for Computer Sciences; Dr. Samir Deshmukh and Dr. Sumeet Chavan for Earth Sciences; Dr. Deepak Taikar and Prof. Jitendra Ramteke for Physical Sciences; and Mr. Pavan Revatkar and Dr. Satish Rathod for Mathematical Sciences.
The event was inaugurated by the honorable chief guest, Mr. Mohit Shah, President of Nagpur Shikshan Mandal in presence of Adv. Rajeev Dev, Secretary of Nagpur Shikshan Mandal as the guest of honour, Principal Dr. Jeevan Dontulwar and Vice Principal Prof. Jitendra Ramteke. In the valedictory program, Principal Dr. Jeevan Dontulwar, Vice Principal Dr. Jitendra Ramteke, and IQAC Co-coordinator and Program coordinator Dr. Nikhil Palande were present on dais to present awards to the prize winners. Enthusiastic and dedicated participants were honoured with prizes, certificates, and monetary rewards.
Awards were presented for first place, second place, third place in both UG and PG categories and a few consolation prizes were awarded to motivate others.
In Earth Sciences, Kshitij Gupta, Chaitrali Katare, Mehwish Shaikh, and Chetana Channe excelled in the UG group, while Madhurima Nambiar, Pooja Mandal, and Shravani Mandaokar stood out in the PG group. In Physical Sciences, Devang Bhoyar, Yugansh Kanoje, and Nikita Dudhpachare shone in the UG group, with Darshana Meherkurhe and Dhanshree Baramase making their mark in the PG group.
In Life Sciences, Shreya Dharpure, Riddhi Pandey, Kiran Arya, and Sandeep Khakse won awards in the UG category, while Kais Ansari, Pragati Gaydhane, and Kshitij Giripunje stood out in the PG category.
In Mathematical Sciences, prizes were awarded to Rakhi Sharma, Purva Gharade, and Shubhda Gaikwad in the UG category. In Computer Sciences, prize winners in the UG category included Aryan Gawture, Amina Khan, Oshin Mendhe, Awais Haider, those in PG category were Kiran Khapekar, Alsabha Sayyed, Aksa Sayyed Petkar, and Vedika Mohod. Participation certificates were given to all participants, acknowledging their efforts.
Under the leadership of Dr. Nikhil Palande, a team of teachers including Ms. Shamali Khalatkar, Dr. Sanjeevani Jawadand, Dr. Vaishali Badiye, Dr. Bhavna Salame, Ms. Rishika Pali, Dr. Shweta Shirpurkar, Mr. Aditya Tiwari and a team of student volunteers ensured the event’s successful organization. With the support of subject experts, the event achieved educational excellence. Encouragement and cooperation from Mr. Mohit Shah, Adv. Rajeev Dev, and members of the education board helped the event reach new heights.
