Urban Company has launched Insta Maids, a quick service that lets users book househelp in just 15 minutes. The service is available on an hourly basis and covers daily chores like utensil cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and cooking. It starts at ₹49 per hour and is currently being tested in Mumbai. Urban Company has not responded to queries about the launch. This comes as quick commerce platforms expand into more services. These platforms, which began by offering groceries, have expanded their product range to apparel, food, medicines, ambulances and other services in 10-15 minutes.
The rise of quick commerce has led brands and marketplaces to speed up deliveries to meet growing demand. This sector is also attracting investors, with several startups securing funding in recent months. In January, quick service app Snabbit, which provides hyperlocal on-demand home services, raised $5.5 million in a funding round led by Elevation Capital.
The startup also operates in the 15-minute service segment. Other recently funded startups include FirstClub, backed by RTP Global, and Swish, backed by Accel.
Urban Company, which operates in 60 cities across India, Australia, Singapore, and the UAE, offers at-home services such as beauty treatments, haircuts, massages, cleaning, plumbing, carpentry, appliance repair, and painting within 1-2 hours. The Prosus-backed startup, preparing to file for an IPO, transitioned into a public company last month.
This is an important step before filing for an IPO. In 2023-24, Urban Company reduced its net loss to Rs 93 crore from Rs 312 crore in the previous financial year. Its operating revenue grew by nearly 30% year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 827 crore, according to ET.
