The two-day strike in Matheran came to an end on Wednesday after discussions with the administration led to a resolution. The protest was sparked by complaints about fraud and overcharging by touts and horse operators, which had briefly halted tourism in the hill station.
The issue was settled following the intervention of local MLA Mahendra Thorve, allowing tourist activities to resume on Thursday. The strike was led by the Matheran Paryatan Bachao Sangharsh Samiti, which highlighted how such scams were affecting visitor numbers. Former Matheran Hill Station Municipal Council president Manoj Khedkar told media that the protest was called off after officials assured action against these concerns.
