Jabalpur: Three people were killed and 33 others injured when a Nagpur-bound private bus, operated as ‘Ram Rath’ by Purple Travels, overturned in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district early Sunday morning.
The accident occurred around 4 AM in the Ramanpur Ghati area under the Bargi police station limits. According to Senior Police Inspector Kamlesh Chauriya, the 36-seater bus (MH14/LB 8718) was carrying pilgrims returning from Ayodhya after visiting the Ram Temple. They had started their journey back to Nagpur at 3:30 PM on Saturdayand were expected to reach their destination by Sunday morning.
Cause of the Accident
Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver may have dozed off or was speeding, leading to the crash. The Ramanpur Ghati stretch is known for its sharp turns and winding roads, making it a treacherous route for vehicles.
The deceased have been identified as Shubham Vijay Meshram (28), Vishram Nagar, Amol Chandrabhan Khode (42), Manewada, and Malmma (45), wife of Santhappa, from Medchal, Hyderabad
The injured passengers and crew members sustained minor injuries and were admitted to hospitals in Lakhnadon town and Jabalpur city for treatment.
