In a strict action against ‘dummy’ admissions, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday revoked the affiliation of 21 schools and downgraded six others from senior secondary to secondary level, officials said.
According to a media report, the decision follows a surprise inspection conducted in September at schools in Rajasthan and Delhi, where multiple violations were found. Officials stated that dummy or non-attending admissions go against the fundamental purpose of school education, affecting students’ overall development.
CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta stated, “To tackle this issue, we are taking firm action against dummy schools and sending a strong message to all affiliated institutions to avoid accepting dummy or non-attending admissions.”
He said the vital observations of the surprise inspection committees regarding the irregularities observed during the inspections were communicated as a report to the respective schools. “The replies submitted by the schools were examined in detail by the Board. Based on the inspection findings and supported by videographic evidence, affiliation of 21 schools was withdrawn and six schools were downgraded from senior secondary to secondary level,” he added.
Six schools were downgraded, while 21 lost affiliation—16 in Delhi and five in Rajasthan’s coaching hubs, Kota and Sikar.
