A high-intensity mock drill was conducted at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport on Thursday, placing the entire airport on alert as part of a security preparedness initiative. The exercise was carried out in response to a recent explosion near Lahore Airport, which has prompted heightened vigilance at airports across the region.
As soon as the emergency siren was activated, all personnel inside the airport terminal were immediately evacuated. Airport staff were escorted outside the premises in a swift and coordinated manner, simulating a real-time emergency response.
The drill was organised by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which also provided guidance to staff on safety protocols to be followed in the event of a terrorist attack or explosion. The objective was to assess the readiness and coordination of airport authorities during a crisis.
Flight operations remained unaffected during the drill, which was conducted without incident. The exercise served as a critical reminder of the importance of quick response systems in safeguarding passengers and infrastructure.
Authorities confirmed that the drill was part of routine preparedness measures being implemented nationwide in light of recent threats.
