In a move aligned with the National Education Policy 2020, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) is set to establish a dedicated ‘School of Law’ in the city. The initiative will bring together the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar College of Law and the Postgraduate Department of Law under one unified structure.
The formation of the School of Law is part of a broader plan by RTMNU to restructure its academic departments. According to the university’s roadmap, nearly 40 to 50 postgraduate departments are expected to be converted into ‘schools’ over the next few years, creating multidisciplinary learning hubs and streamlining administrative and academic functions.
The official notification regarding the launch was issued by Dr Madhavi Khode Chaware, Acting Vice Chancellor, and Dr Raju Hiwase, Pro-Vice Chancellor of RTMNU. As per the announcement, the new School of Law will centralize all undergraduate and postgraduate law education under one institutional framework.
The introduction of this school is a key part of RTMNU’s efforts to modernize its academic offerings, enhance interdisciplinary learning, and adopt structural changes in line with NEP 2020 guidelines.
