A 40-year-old man brutally murdered his younger brother by slitting his throat with a knife during a domestic dispute in Khapri Rehabilitation Colony under Beltarodi Police Station. The shocking incident occurred around 11 pm on Friday.
The accused, Harish Sheshrao Jumde, surrendered at the police station and confessed to killing his younger brother, Vaibhav Sheshrao Jumde (37). According to police, Vaibhav was addicted to alcohol and frequently abused Harish’s wife and children. Both brothers lived together and were unemployed.
On the day of the incident, Vaibhav allegedly assaulted his sister-in-law after returning home drunk. Later that night, when Harish returned, he was informed about the altercation. Enraged, he took a knife and attacked Vaibhav, slitting his throat. Despite his condition, Vaibhav was not taken to the hospital and succumbed to his injuries.
Harish reached Beltarodi Police Station around 12:15 am and confessed. DCP Rashmita Rav, ACP Narendra Hivare, and PI Mukund Kawade visited the spot and seized the murder weapon. Harish has been arrested and remanded to police custody till July 28.
The family had earlier received land and ₹15 lakh compensation from MIHAN, but both brothers remained jobless.
