Srinagar – In a significant blow to cross-border terrorism, Indian security forces neutralised three Pakistani terrorists in Kashmir’s Dachigam forest region as part of Operation Mahadev. Among those killed is Suleman alias Asif, a key conspirator in the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 Indian lives in April 2025.
The precision-led operation, executed after days of sustained intelligence surveillance, reflects a broader counter-terrorism push against Pakistan-sponsored infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir. Sources indicate that the slain operatives were foreign nationals, believed to be associated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba outfit. Their identities are being cross-verified with Over Ground Workers (OGWs) previously detained by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for aiding the Pahalgam attack.
The crackdown comes as Parliament debates Operation Sindoor during the ongoing Monsoon Session. The operation was India’s retaliatory military response following the Pahalgam massacre, targeting and eliminating over 100 terrorists and destroying nine terror bases across the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, while addressing the Lok Sabha, confirmed the success of Operation Sindoor, stating: “Indian armed forces responded effectively to Pakistan’s provocations. Nine terror hideouts were demolished without harming civilians.”
Security experts view the elimination of Suleman as a major strategic win, further tightening India’s grip on terror elements attempting to destabilise the region.
