Tension erupted at the East Nagpur office of the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) on Thursday after workers of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) staged a protest. During the agitation, they blackened the face of Suresh Chavan, an Assistant in the Civil Engineering Department, over alleged negligence and irregularities in civic work.
According to reports, MNS activists barged into the office and confronted Chavan regarding public grievances related to infrastructure issues in the area. The situation turned chaotic when the protesters smeared black ink on his face in front of the staff, creating panic in the office.
Police were immediately informed, and the incident has sparked strong reactions in administrative and political circles. Authorities are investigating the matter, and security has been tightened at the NIT office to prevent further untoward incidents.
