After the suspension of flights to Nashik, Aurangabad, and Lucknow, now the air service from Nagpur to Kolhapur has also been stopped. The flight, which had started in May, was discontinued after just two months. This development has caused disappointment among passengers traveling to Kolhapur, especially devotees visiting the famous Mahalaxmi Temple.
The flight was launched to provide convenient connectivity between the two cities. Operated by Star Air with an Embraer E135 aircraft, the service was available three times a week on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday departing Nagpur at 2:35 PM.
However, due to low passenger response, the airline has now halted operations. Similar services to Nashik, Aurangabad, and Lucknow were already suspended, initially under the name of a “summer schedule” closure. Despite the end of the summer season, these flights have not yet resumed.
It is speculated that the Nagpur-Kolhapur flight might only resume after August if passenger demand increases. Until then, travelers will have to rely on alternate options for commuting between the two cities.
