The Startup Entrepreneurship and Innovation Policy 2025 was cleared by the Maharashtra Government during its Cabinet meeting on Tuesday. The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, took seven important decisions.
In a press conference after the meeting, Skill Development and Employment Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha said that a loan of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh at 3% interest rate will be given to the entrepreneurs. Any individual holding any Bachelor’s degree or an ITI certificate can avail of the facility. Initially, five lakh people will be selected under the entrepreneurship development programme.
The Cabinet also cleared the proposal for the Freight Corridor connecting the Bawdhan Port to the Hinduhriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Samruddhi Mahamarg; the amendment to the policy to allow commercial use of additional land by the MSRTC (Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation).
Lodha said that 1,124 weavers in Nagpur, associated with Nagpur Weavers Cooperative Spinning Mill, will be given Rs 50 crore, earned by the sale of the mill’s land. The Cabinet also took a decision to change the reservation of a sports ground in Pachora in Jalgaon district to a residential plot, and hike in honorarium to the non-government organisations serving the leprosy patients, from Rs 2,000 to Rs 6,000.
