Hundreds of Nagpurians took to the streets, chanting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”, as they participated enthusiastically in the “Tiranga Marathon” organised by Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) under the Central and State Governments’ Har Ghar Tiranga 2025 campaign. The event, themed “Ek Daud Deshbhakti ke Liye” (A Run for Patriotism), aimed at fostering patriotic fervour and promoting fitness.

The 5-km marathon was flagged off by NMC Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Abhijit Chaudhary from ‘Ramgiri’ in Civil Lines. The route covered key city landmarks including Ladies Club Chowk, GPO Chowk, Akashvani Chowk, Vidhan Bhavan, NMC Administrative Building, Bishop Cotton School, Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground, Metro House, Tirpude College, Japanese Garden, and concluded at Anuradha Nyaymurti Bungalow.

In both men’s and women’s categories, the top three winners received cash prizes of ₹11,000, ₹7,000, and ₹5,000 respectively, along with Puma sports shoes. The first ten finishers in each category were awarded Puma shoes, while those ranked 11th to 30th received track suit coupons. Winners were also honoured with a traditional shawl and certificate.

The marathon witnessed participation from senior citizens, including runners in their late 70s, and even a 7-year-old who painted the national flag on his body to spread the message of patriotism. Their enthusiasm drew admiration from the crowd.

An eye-catching “Selfie Point” based on the themes of the national flag and Nagpur city attracted large numbers of participants eager to capture the moment.
Dr. Abhijit Chaudhary participated in the run along with his family, completing the 5-km distance together, adding a personal touch to the event.
The “Tiranga Marathon” successfully combined patriotism, fitness, and community spirit, setting a vibrant tone for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations in Nagpur.
