The Nagpur City Traffic Department has announced strict regulations on the movement of heavy vehicles and goods transport trucks within city limits to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety. Every day, a large number of heavy vehicles enter Nagpur city, causing severe congestion on major routes such as Wardha Road, Amravati Road, Kamptee Road, Katol Road, Hingna Road, Koradi Road, Umred Road, Bhandara Road, and other important stretches. Their movement during busy hours disrupts normal traffic, delays public transport, and increases the risk of accidents.
To address these problems, the traffic department will prohibit the entry of heavy goods vehicles into the city between 6:00 AM and 9:00 PM. These vehicles must use bypass routes instead of city roads during restricted hours. Loading and unloading of goods within city limits will be allowed only at designated spots and during permitted timings, and any unauthorized parking or loading/unloading will attract heavy fines along with legal action under the Motor Vehicles Act.
Certain categories will be exempt from these restrictions, including emergency services such as ambulances, fire brigade, and police vehicles, as well as vehicles supplying essential goods like milk, bread, vegetables, fruits, and medicines. School buses, passenger buses, and vehicles for weddings, funerals, or other approved purposes will also be allowed with prior permission from the traffic department.
The special enforcement drive will be conducted from 13.08.2024 to 27.08.2024 across Nagpur city. Traffic police have appealed to citizens, commuters, and transporters to cooperate in following these rules to ensure smooth and safe traffic management.
