Nagpur: A man was brutally murdered at Jai Bhim Chowk under the jurisdiction of Nandanvan Police Station between the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Rajesh Dhanvijay.
According to police sources, Rajesh was attacked by unidentified assailants using gattu (road pavement blocks). He sustained severe head injuries and succumbed before medical aid could be provided.
Investigators have zeroed in on a few suspects and registered a case of murder. Preliminary inquiries suggest that Rajesh, a habitual drinker, may have been killed following a drunken brawl. Police are now probing all angles to establish the exact sequence of events leading to the crime.
