With the arrival of Navratri and the grand Durga Puja celebrations, a large number of devotees from Vidarbha travel to Kolkata to witness the festive spirit. To facilitate their journey, the South East Central Railway (SECR) has announced special train services between Nagpur and Kolkata.
A special train (Train No. 08646) will run from Nagpur-Shalimar every Saturday from 27 September to 25 October 2025. In return, the Shalimar-Nagpur special train (Train No. 08645) will operate every Friday from 26 September to 24 October 2025.
Each train will have 18 coaches, including AC-2, AC-3, Sleeper, and General classes. The train will pass through Gondia, Durg, Raipur, Bilaspur, Jharsuguda, Rourkela, Chakradharpur, and Tatanagar before reaching Shalimar (Kolkata).
Due to the huge rush of passengers during Durga Puja, these additional services aim to ensure safe and comfortable travel. Railway authorities have appealed to passengers to make full use of this facility.
The train will depart from Nagpur every Saturday at 11:50 a.m. and reach Shalimar the next day at 3:39 p.m. On its return journey, the train will leave Shalimar every Friday at 8:15 a.m. and arrive in Nagpur the next day at 11:10 a.m.
