In Maharashtra’s Nashik district, an unusual face-off between a stray dog and a leopard has captured widespread attention. A video of the incident, filmed in Niphad town, has gone viral, showing the dog seemingly overpowering the wild cat.Witnesses said the leopard had strayed into the locality earlier in the week.
In a surprising turn, the dog confronted the predator, attacking and dragging it for nearly 300 meters.
Media reports suggest the leopard, caught off guard, eventually broke free and fled into the nearby fields. The dog emerged unscathed from the scuffle, and fortunately, no residents were harmed.
The dramatic encounter, now circulating widely on social media, has also raised concerns about the leopard’s condition. Local authorities confirmed the animal was injured, though forest officials are still assessing whether it requires treatment. They assured that both people and other animals in the area remain safe.
Interestingly, the incident comes at a time when the issue of stray dogs is being debated in the Supreme Court.
The court recently modified an earlier directive that had prohibited the release of vaccinated stray dogs in Delhi-NCR, describing the order as “too strict.”
