In a major boost for job seekers in the health sector, the Maharashtra government has decided to fill 5,223 vacant posts in the state’s Public Health Department. A government resolution (GR) to this effect was issued on Saturday.
The recruitment covers a wide range of positions including doctors, staff nurses, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, paramedical staff, and administrative and technical personnel. The decision was taken following a Consolidated Justice Review (CJR) order by the department’s Additional Chief Secretary and is expected to open employment avenues for thousands of young candidates across the state.
The new recruits will be deployed at primary health centres and district hospitals, which have long struggled with severe staff shortages. The infusion of manpower is expected to significantly strengthen both state-level and district-level health services delivery.
The recruitment process will be conducted online. Detailed information on eligibility criteria, educational qualifications and service conditions will be made public shortly, the government stated.
The announcement has been welcomed by students and healthcare job aspirants, many of whom had been awaiting government action on long-pending vacancies in the public health system.
