Vande Bharat Express services originating from Nagpur have recorded an unprecedented ridership of 3.75 lakh passengers between January and March 31, 2026, underlining the growing popularity of the semi-high-speed trains among commuters in central India.
Data compiled by the Nagpur Railway Division shows that across all Vande Bharat routes from the city, 3,76,000 passengers chose the service during the three-month period. The Pune and Indore routes emerged as the most popular, with the Nagpur–Pune Vande Bharat recording 1,11,878 passengers and the Nagpur–Indore service carrying over 1,01,000 passengers in the same period.
Railway officials attribute the surge to the trains’ modern amenities — clean coaches, comfortable seating, punctuality and onboard safety — which have made them the preferred choice for business travellers, students and working professionals alike.
The Nagpur–Hyderabad and Nagpur–Bilaspur routes are also witnessing consistently rising demand, with passengers increasingly requesting additional trains or expanded coach configurations on these corridors. Railway officials said the passenger figures from Nagpur are a strong signal of public acceptance and could support proposals for new Vande Bharat services on high-demand routes.
