The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall across several districts of Vidarbha, including Nagpur, Buldhana, Akola, Washim, Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli.
Over the past week, Nagpur and many parts of Vidarbha witnessed intermittent heavy showers, causing waterlogging and disruption in daily life. While rainfall intensity eased slightly in the last couple of days, the IMD has cautioned that a new low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal and active monsoon winds will once again bring widespread rain to the region.
From August 25 onwards, Vidarbha districts are expected to receive moderate to heavy rain, with isolated areas likely to face very heavy downpours. The IMD has particularly warned residents in Nagpur and adjoining districts to remain alert for possible flooding in low-lying areas, traffic disruption, and overflowing drains.
Farmers across Vidarbha, who were concerned about uneven rainfall earlier in the season, are expected to benefit from the fresh spell of showers, which will help in boosting crop growth. However, authorities have advised caution against excess rain leading to crop damage in some belts.
With the monsoon reviving strongly, Vidarbha is set to witness another active rainy phase, and citizens have been urged to follow weather advisories closely over the next few days.
