In line with the directives of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), Supreme Court of India, and the Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Nagpur has announced that a National Lok Adalat will be organized on September 13, 2025, across all courts in Nagpur district. The initiative is being conducted under the guidance of Principal District & Sessions Judge and DLSA Chairman Dinesh P. Surana.
The Lok Adalat will be held in the district court, all taluka-level courts, labour and industrial courts, family courts, consumer forums, and other tribunals within the jurisdiction. Litigants have been urged to submit their pending and pre-litigation matters for settlement to ensure speedy and amicable resolution.
Cases to be considered include civil and criminal compoundable cases, motor accident compensation claims, land acquisition matters, revenue cases, matrimonial disputes, bank recovery and financial institution claims, and other disputes eligible for compromise. Panels of judges, senior lawyers, and social workers will assist parties in arriving at settlements.
Importantly, there is no court fee for matters placed before the Lok Adalat, and its awards are final and binding, with no provision for appeal. Orders passed will be enforceable as decrees of a civil court, thereby saving litigants both time and money, and sparing them prolonged legal procedures.
Citizens wishing to place their cases in the National Lok Adalat may submit applications to the concerned courts for pending matters or contact the DLSA office in Nagpur and Taluka Legal Services Committees for pre-litigation cases. An appeal has been jointly made by Pravin M. Unhale, Secretary of DLSA Nagpur, and Roshan Bagde, President of the Nagpur District Bar Association, urging maximum participation to resolve disputes through mutual settlement.
