The Nagpur District Badminton Association (NDBA) will host the Yonex-Sunrise Nagpur District Selection Badminton Tournament from September 25 to 28 at the Dhanwate National College Badminton Hall. The meet will act as a key selection event for the inter-district championships in the Under-17 and Under-19 age groups.
Categories and Eligibility
Competitions will be held in Under-9, Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, Under-19, Open, and veteran categories (35+, 40+, 50+, and 60+).
Participation is restricted to registered players of Nagpur district only.
The entry fee has been fixed at ₹1,000 for singles and ₹2,000 for doubles, while the last date for entries is September 23 through ndba.co.in. For additional information, players may contact Madhavi Kashikar-Hedaoo, Anant Apte, Aditya Galande, or Nishad Choure.
Spotlight on Recent Performances
The spotlight will be on city shuttlers who recently showcased impressive performances at the Yonex-Sunrise Amol Kale Memorial Yash Open Nagpur District Badminton Tournament held at Subhedar Badminton Hall, RTMNU Sports Complex, Ravi Nagar.
Hidaan Sandeep Singh emerged as the star, defeating Devansh Sachin Thaokar to clinch the Under-15 title, before overpowering Rubal Gedam to lift the Under-17 crown as well.
In the boys’ Under-13 category, Himank Namdeo Hajare secured the trophy after overcoming Swanand Shrikant Gotmare in the final.
Among the girls, Sharayu Ramdas Rewaskar claimed the Under-15 title, defeating Riddhi Pramod Tidke.
Expectations High
Organisers noted that all these young champions will be eager to carry their winning momentum into the upcoming district selection event. With top performers in action, the tournament is expected to witness high-voltage matches and close contests across age groups.
