Chandrapur: A 19-year-old student from Chandrapur district died by suicide on the very day he was to leave for admission to a medical college in Uttar Pradesh.
The deceased, Anurag Anil Borkar, a resident of Nawargaon in Sindewahi taluka, had recently cleared the NEET UG 2025 examination with an impressive 99.99 percentile and secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 1475 in the OBC category. Following his achievement, he was preparing to travel to Gorakhpur for admission into an MBBS programme.
According to police officials, Anurag was found hanging at his residence on the scheduled day of his departure. A suicide note was discovered at the scene. Though its full content has not been officially disclosed, police sources said it indicated that the teenager did not wish to pursue a medical career.
The incident has shocked the local community, especially as Anurag was celebrated for his academic success. The Navargaon Police have registered the case and are investigating further.
