New Delhi: Former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai zonal director and Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Sameer Wankhede has approached the Delhi High Court with a defamation suit against Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., owned by actor Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, along with global streaming giant Netflix and others.
Wankhede has sought damages of ₹2 crore, alleging that Aryan Khan’s directorial debut series, “The Ba**ds of Bollywood”, includes “false, malicious, and defamatory content” aimed at tarnishing his professional and personal reputation. He claimed the show portrays anti-drug enforcement agencies in a distorted and negative light, thereby undermining his credibility.
The former NCB officer further argued that the series was deliberately designed and executed to malign him in a prejudicial manner, particularly when legal proceedings involving him and Aryan Khan are still pending before the Bombay High Court and the NDPS Special Court in Mumbai.
According to his petition, the timing and narrative of the show amount to an unfair attempt to target him while judicial scrutiny remains underway.
