On the occasion of World Animal Day, reports reveal that the number of tigers in Nagpur district’s forests is steadily increasing. The dense jungles of Nagpur are once again echoing with the roars of these majestic big cats, reflecting successful conservation efforts.
Last year, there were 39 tigers recorded in the Paoni forest area. This year, the number has risen significantly. Besides Paoni, several other forest divisions have reported a noticeable increase in tiger sightings. As per the latest figures, there are now more than 60 tigers across regions like Umred, East Paoni, Chorbahuli, Pakshi, and West Paoni.
The forests of Umred-Karhandla have become a stronghold for tigers. Along with one adult tiger and a tigress, this area also hosts several cubs that are expected to grow into future rulers of the jungle. The presence of four tigresses with 13 cubs has turned these forests into a major attraction for wildlife tourists and photographers alike.
Nagpur district’s growing tiger population reflects a thriving ecosystem and the success of ongoing conservation and monitoring initiatives.
