The Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) has unveiled an ambitious ₹200-crore plan to transform Koradi Lake into a world-class eco-tourism destination, seamlessly blending sustainability, recreation, and technology.
Set just outside city limits, the Koradi Lakefront will offer eco-friendly attractions such as floating decks, bamboo cottages, viewing towers, cycling tracks, nature trails, landscaped gardens, and adventure zones. Visitors can indulge in non-motorised boating, kayaking, paddle boats, and eco-friendly shikara rides, ensuring a serene, pollution-free experience.
The centrepiece of the project will be a floating amphitheatre, hosting open-air cultural shows and light displays over the water. Complementing it will be a solar-lit promenade, biodiversity interpretation centre, and eco-learning pavilion, promoting awareness of ecology and conservation.
“Koradi Lake will be developed using solar energy, rainwater harvesting, and IoT-based water monitoring,” said Sachin Dhole, Additional Commissioner, NMRDA. “All structures will use eco-sensitive materials that blend with the natural landscape.”
Green engineering features like bioswales for natural filtration, recycled pathways, and sensor-based lighting systems will make the site energy-efficient and environmentally sound.
Local communities will benefit through employment in hospitality, food courts, craft kiosks, and eco-guided tours, ensuring inclusive growth.
Once completed, the Koradi Eco-Tourism Hub will stand as Central India’s most advanced nature-based leisure zone—a living example of how modern design and environmental harmony can coexist beautifully.
