Nagpur: Sitabuldi Police have booked the director of a city-based property agency for allegedly duping 44 homebuyers of more than ₹1.39 crore under the pretext of securing unsold MHADA flats and related services.
According to police, an advertisement issued by MHADA in 2022 invited agencies to assist in the sale of unsold housing units. Based on this notification, Deals My Property, operating from the eighth floor of Lokmat Building in Sitabuldi, was selected as an authorised agency under defined conditions. The agency’s director, Bhupendra Chandrikapure, was responsible for facilitating sales as per MHADA norms.
Investigators said that between October 19, 2022 and July 5, 2025, the accused collected money from beneficiaries despite having no authority to accept payments. Chandrikapure allegedly promised allotment of MHADA flats, home loan assistance, and electricity connection support. However, after collecting funds from 44 beneficiaries, he reportedly failed to provide any of the promised services.
Police said the accused diverted a total of ₹1,39,87,370 for personal use, betraying the trust of both MHADA and the home-seekers.
Following a complaint by a senior MHADA official, Sitabuldi Police registered an offence under Sections 318(4) and 316(2) of the BNS. Further investigation is currently underway.
