BVM Civil Lines School represented by Chirag Lahoti, Harsh Lahoti, Arava Dhoot and Aaradhya Gedam bagged the Team School title of 1st Modern Inter-School Chess Tournament 2025 Organized by Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation in association with Modern School recognised by Chess Association Nagpur held at Modern School, Koradi Road, Nagpur on 23rd November 2025. Total prizes worth Rs. 20000/- sponsored by Modern School were at stake. The team prizes were declared based on the individual scores of the top players of the respective schools. The event received a huge response with 410 participants which included 72 International Rated players.
BVM Civil Lines scored total of 27 points to win the title. BVM Trimurti Nagar scored overall 26 points stood second comprising of players Riddhi Agrawal, Nihaansha Khode, Anvika Ghodeswar and Vihaan Deshmukh. BVM Ashti with 24 points completed an all BVM dominance winning the third spot. BVM Ashit was represented by Anurag Bagdi, Rekhi Chandak, Manas Karnase and Swara Rahul Gandhi.
Pankaj Rughwani, Secretary, Sindhi Hindi Vidya Samiti Nagpur was the Chief Guest of Prize Distribution function who gave away the prizes. Prominently present on the dias were Shri Amit Yenurkar, Director, Modern School, CA Gaurav Jaipuriya, Director, Modern School, Mr. Bhushan Shriwas, Secretary, Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation & Chess Association Nagpur, Ms. Rupali Dey, Principal, Modern School, and Shri Shiva Iyer, International Arbiter who was the Chief Arbiter of the tournament.
Earlier, in the morning session, the event was inaugurated by Shri Virendra Kukreja, Social Worker and Seniors BJP Leader.
In addition to the cash prizes, trophies were distributed to top scores in Under-7, 9, 11, 13 and 15 Age groups. Attractive Shields were given to the School Prizes Winner Teams.
Chief Arbiter IA Shiva Iyer smooth conducted the event with the Assistance from FA Amit Tembhurne, FA Bharti Dhote, SNA Prayas Amabde, SNA Shishir Indurkar,m SNA Shrikant Bagde, SNA Shyam Agrawal, SNA Swati Kumbhalkar, SNA Ninad Jain, NA Prathamesh Machave and Arun Kushwah.
