All IndiGo flights scheduled to depart from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport have been cancelled until 11:59 pm on Friday, escalating what was already a day of severe disruption at major airports, sources said.
Passengers at IGI Airport were informed through the afternoon that the halt on departures would continue as operational issues worsened. The nationwide chaos has now turned into a near-complete shutdown of IndiGo’s departures from the capital.
IndiGo, India’s largest airline, typically operates around 235 outbound flights daily from Delhi, making it the biggest contributor to the freeze. The sudden cancellation has left thousands of travellers stranded, with long queues seen at help desks and ticket counters.
Airport authorities and the airline are yet to issue a detailed statement on when normal operations will resume. Passengers have been advised to check the status of their flights before heading to the airport.
