The Ministry of Civil Aviation on Saturday directed IndiGo to clear all pending refunds for cancelled or disrupted flights by 8 pm on Sunday, December 7, 2025. The government has also ordered the airline to stop charging rescheduling fees for affected passengers.
The Ministry warned that any delay or failure to process refunds will lead to regulatory action.
IndiGo’s nationwide disruption entered its fifth day on Saturday, with more than 400 flights cancelled, leaving passengers stranded at airports in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Guwahati and several other cities.
Govt’s orders to IndiGo include:
- Complete all refunds for cancelled/disrupted flights by 8 pm on Sunday
- Trace and deliver all delayed or missing baggage to passengers’ homes within 48 hours
- Set up support and refund cells and continue automatic refunds until normal operations resume
- Ensure special assistance for senior citizens, students, patients, and other priority passengers
IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers earlier apologised for the widespread cancellations and said operations are expected to stabilise between December 10 and 15.
