The issue of noise pollution caused by DJs was raised in the Legislative Council, with a demand to adopt Solapur’s successful DJ-free city model across Maharashtra.
BJP leader Shrikant Bhartiya said rising noise levels were causing serious inconvenience to citizens and adversely affecting public health. He noted that Solapur has banned DJs at religious programmes and processions, promoting folk art and traditional musical instruments instead, and urged the state to implement a similar policy.
Responding to the discussion, Environment Minister Pankaja Munde acknowledged that noise pollution is a serious concern and needs to be addressed.
