The Aadhaar Seva Kendra in Mankapur will remain closed for another week and is now scheduled to reopen on December 22. Technical testing of the facility will be conducted on December 20 to ensure smooth operations before services resume.
The centre was earlier expected to reopen on December 15, but the plan was delayed due to incomplete setup.Aadhaar service centres across the country were closed after the expiry of contracts for 128 centres operated by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
Following fresh tenders, operations of the Nagpur centre have been handed over to Protean.Once reopened, the Mankapur centre will offer Aadhaar enrolment, updates and related services.
The operating model has also been revised, with services now being provided through eight kits under the B-model, compared to 16 kits earlier under the A-model, keeping visitor flow and workload in mind.
The centre has been shut since November 26, causing inconvenience to residents of Mankapur and nearby areas. Repeated delays in reopening have led to frustration among citizens, many of whom returned disappointed after multiple visits.
