The process of finalising voter lists for the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) elections was carried out on a war footing, with municipal officials working late into the night despite the weekend holidays. As per the State Election Commission’s schedule, the final ward-wise voter lists will be published on Monday.
Officials said special care was taken to ensure voters were correctly assigned to their respective wards. However, the administration clarified that if any voter has been inadvertently placed in a different ward, they will have to vote in the ward where their name appears, and not in their actual place of residence. A total of 1,327 objections were received during the scrutiny process.
With the final voter list being a key step ahead of the election announcement, political parties, aspiring candidates and citizens are closely tracking the development. The number of voters in each ward will shape political strategies, and candidates are expected to begin their preparations in earnest once the lists are published.
