Air India has issued a travel advisory after the weather department forecast dense fog in Delhi and parts of northern and eastern India, warning passengers of possible flight disruptions.
According to the forecast, Delhi is expected to experience foggy conditions on Friday, December 18, which could impact flight operations. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Air India said the dense fog may lead to delays, cancellations and cascading effects across its flight network.
The airline stated that while efforts are being made to minimise inconvenience, adverse weather conditions could still result in schedule changes, including unexpected delays or cancellations. Air India assured passengers that its ground staff will be available round the clock to assist travellers and help with alternative arrangements if required.
Passengers have been advised to regularly check the status of their flights on Air India’s official website before heading to the airport, where the latest updates will be shared.As part of its ‘FogCare’ initiative, Air India will send advance alerts to passengers booked on select flights that are likely to be affected by fog.
Eligible travellers can change their flights without paying any additional charges or opt for a full refund without penalty.Reiterating its commitment to safety, the airline said the well-being of passengers and crew remains its top priority and thanked travellers for their patience and understanding.Meanwhile, low visibility due to dense fog has already led to the cancellation of at least 10 flights at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on December 17, according to airport authorities.The Delhi Airport has activated Low Visibility Procedures and urged passengers to stay in touch with their respective airlines for updates.
The India Meteorological Department has predicted shallow to moderate fog during morning hours on December 18, 20 and 23, while moderate to dense fog is likely on December 21 and 22 in the national capital.
