A shocking incident of violence against an on-duty woman constable during an anti-mining protest in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district has come to light after a disturbing video surfaced on social media, sparking widespread outrage.According to police, the incident occurred on December 27 in the Tamnar block, where residents of 14 villages were protesting against a coal mining project.
The protest turned violent, and the woman constable was allegedly isolated in a field and assaulted by members of the mob.The video, which began circulating online on Thursday, shows the constable lying on the ground, crying and pleading for mercy as two men allegedly tear her clothes and question her presence at the protest site.
She is heard repeatedly requesting them to let her go and insisting she had not harmed anyone. One of the accused is seen pulling at her torn clothes, while another records the assault and threatens her.Police said two local residents have been arrested so far in connection with the case.
Based on their statements and digital evidence, efforts are underway to identify and apprehend others involved in the assault.
