India batter Tilak Varma underwent surgery for an abdominal condition in Rajkot on Wednesday and was discharged from the hospital on Thursday morning. He is set to fly back to Hyderabad on Friday.
According to a media report, Tilak is currently stable and recovering well. He will begin physical training and gradually resume skill-based activities once his symptoms have completely resolved and his surgical wound has healed satisfactorily.
As a result, Tilak has been ruled out of the first three T20Is against New Zealand. His availability for the remaining two matches will be determined based on his progress during the rehabilitation and return-to-skill phases.
