To help students, schools and examination centre officials prepare better for the upcoming SSC and HSC board examinations, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has launched its official YouTube channel.
According to a media report, the platform will feature informative videos in which board officials explain examination rules and procedures, with the aim of minimising confusion during board exams. In addition, the channel will carry motivational messages from well-known personalities to encourage students and promote fair examination practices.
Maharashtra State Board chairman Trigun Kulkarni said the initiative is designed to reach stakeholders through an effective and widely used communication medium. He noted that while exam rules remain largely unchanged, confusion often arises due to varied interpretations of written guidelines. “There is nothing new when it comes to rules and regulations related to exams. Despite this, there is always confusion around exams due to differences in interpretations of the written document. In order to clear all such doubts, various such topics are distributed among heads of all nine divisions of the Maharashtra State Board to shoot and upload videos on the YouTube channel,” Kulkarni said. He is the first IAS officer to head the Maharashtra State Board.
Drawing attention to a common concern, Kulkarni said discrepancies are frequently seen in the interpretation of rules related to facilities for students with special needs, often leading to confusion among school and examination centre heads.
Launched last month, the YouTube channel Maharashtra State Board Pune already hosts videos featuring senior government officials, including principal secretary for school education Ranjit Singh Deol and IPS officer Vishwas Nagre Patil. These videos offer motivational messages and urge students to avoid malpractices during examinations.
Another set of videos includes explanations of exam-related rules by divisional-level board officials. These include Latur division head Sudhakar Telang, who outlines facilities available for students with disabilities and the process to access them, and Kolhapur division head Rajesh Kshirsagar, who explains actions prescribed for different types of examination malpractices.
Kulkarni added that the board plans to expand the content to cover topics such as stress management and subject-specific guidance. “Apart from confusion around technicalities of the exams, there are numerous queries on such topics, especially on stress management, not only by aspirants but also their parents. While the traditional helpline practice will continue, these videos aim to provide some basic information in advance,” he said.
For the 2026 board examinations, HSC written exams will be conducted from February 10 to March 18, 2026, while SSC written exams are scheduled from February 20 to March 18, 2026. HSC practical and oral exams will be held from January 23 to February 9, 2026, and SSC practical and oral exams from February 2 to February 18, 2026.
