Inauguration by noted social activist Dr. Abhay Bang
The Orange City Cultural Foundation, in collaboration with PM Shah Foundation, Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Saptak Nagpur, and Cine-Montage, is organizing the ‘Orange City Health Film Festival’ on January 31 and February 1, 2026. This two-day film festival will be held at the Kavi Kulguru Kalidas Auditorium at Persistent Systems, Gayatri Nagar. This information was shared by Padma Shri Dr. Chandrashekhar Meshram, President of the Orange City Cultural Foundation, during a press conference.
The festival will be inaugurated on Saturday, January 31, at 12.30 pm by senior social activist and founder of SEARCH, Dr. Abhay Bang, in the presence of Advocate Chetan Gandhi, Director of the PM Shah Foundation. Screenings of films based on various health-related themes will be held from 1 pm to 7.30 pm.
Screening of 43 Health-Related Short Films
A total of 43 short films will be screened during the two-day festival. These films cover a wide range of topics such as dementia, autism, other mental illnesses, cancer, body donation, social evils, health, social service, environment, employment, relationships, education, psychology, social development, nature, and human values. The films are expected to deeply touch audiences on an emotional level.
‘Aye Zindagi’ to be a Special Attraction
The special attraction of the festival will be the inspirational Hindi social-health and medical drama film ‘Aye Zindagi’, based on a true story, to be screened in the first session on February 1. The 90-minute film depicts the life journey of a 26-year-old patient suffering from liver cirrhosis. Written and directed by Anirban Bose, the film features renowned actress Revathi and is based on the theme of liver transplantation.
The festival has been organized with the objective of using films as an effective medium for health awareness. It is also expected to inspire inquisitive young filmmakers to create short films on various subjects and submit them to the festival, said Dr. Meshram.
The festival is open to all audiences free of charge. The organizers have appealed to the citizens of Nagpur to attend the event in large numbers.
