In the Union Budget 2026–27, the government announced a focused push for the AYUSH sector by proposing a new scheme to support States in establishing five regional medical hubs aimed at strengthening integrated and holistic healthcare delivery.
The Finance Minister also proposed the setting up of three new All India Institutes of Ayurveda.
These regional hubs will combine AYUSH centres with modern diagnostic facilities and post-treatment rehabilitation services, enabling end-to-end patient care under one roof.
The initiative is expected to create wide-ranging employment opportunities for medical and allied health professionals, bolster regional healthcare ecosystems, and further promote India’s traditional systems of medicine.
