Organised by MKSS School of Fashion Technology at Advantage Vidarbha 2026
Under the Advantage Vidarbha 2026 – Khasdar Industrial Festival, the MKSS School of Fashion Technology, Nagpur, run by Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Sanstha, successfully organised its second Graduate Fashion Show.
The event drew special attention due to the gracious presence of renowned actress Sonali Kulkarni, who attended as the chief guest.
Students of the B.A. Fashion Design programme presented collections based on six different concepts, conveying a strong message of sustainable fashion. Under the Temple of India theme, artistic creations were designed on the famous Karvat Kinar sarees of Vidarbha, provided free of cost by the Handloom Corporation. The concept The Palace Palette – Four Gates, One Story showcased the artistic carvings of Jaipur’s city gates through block printing and smocking techniques on fabric.
The Denim Rewoven collection featured innovative designs created using defective denim fabric supplied free by Suryalakshmi Cotton Mills. Desert Rhythms highlighted the traditional mirror work of the Banjara community, while Floral Whisper displayed hand-painted and handwoven floral designs on fabric provided by the Sudamani Foundation.
In the Review Round, selected designs from the previous year’s first batch were also showcased.
On this occasion, Sonali Kulkarni assured that the Denim Rewoven collection would be promoted through her upcoming film. The designs were judged by Nitin Shrivastava, Madhu Singh and Dhruv Hingle.
Several dignitaries were present at the event, including CA Abhay Kulkarni, Chairman of the SOFT Nagpur Management Committee; Satyajit Chitale; Dr. P.V.S. Shastri; Ashish Kale, President of the Association of Industrial Development; Dr. Vijaykumar Sharma; Pankaj Bhokre; Hemant Ambaselkar; Dr. Manju Hundekar, Chairperson of the Development Authority and chief mentor of the fashion show; along with other prominent guests from industry and social organisations.
The event was also attended by Acting Principal Kripa Sawalani, Assistant Administrative Officer Anand Kale, principals of various colleges, parents, and experts from the fashion design field.
The successful organisation of the fashion show was made possible with the dedicated efforts of faculty members Ashwini Chakole, Sharayu Batra, Niyati Pathak, Dr. Pravin Gedam, Swarnima Barahate, Gayatri Manjarkhede, Tejram Wahile, Krishna Satarkar, Ashwini Bujone, Megha Thakur, and students from the first, second and third years of the B.A. Fashion Design programme. The programme was compered by Niyati Pathak.
