Under the Central Government’s ‘PM e-Bus’ service, 50 state-of-the-art, fully air-conditioned electric buses will be inducted into Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s Apala Bus fleet. The buses will be virtually inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, on Saturday, 14th February, at 12:30 PM at the Koradi Depot under the PM e-Bus service.
The event will be attended by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Union Ministers Shri Nitin Gadkari and Shri Manohar Lal, Deputy Chief Ministers Shri Eknath Shinde and Smt. Sunetra Pawar, Revenue Minister & Guardian Minister Shri Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Ministers of State Shri Ashish Jaiswal and Smt. Madhuri Misal, Hon’ble Mayor Smt. Nita Thackeray, Deputy Mayor Smt. Lila Hathibed, Ruling Party Leader Shri Narendra (Balya) Borkar, Opposition Leader Shri Sanjay Mahakalkar, Municipal Commissioner in charge Smt. Vasumana Pant, along with other officials and staff.
The PM e-Bus service is considered a major step towards modernizing Nagpur’s public transport system. It will not only enhance the passenger experience but also accelerate the vision of “green and sustainable mobility.” In the first phase of this project, 50 electric buses have arrived in Nagpur and are currently ready at the depot. The Central Government plans to gradually induct a total of 150 buses into city service.
These buses will help reduce the city’s carbon emissions and strengthen the campaign for a clean and green Nagpur. Features of these state-of-the-art buses The buses arriving under the PM e-Bus service are 9 meters long and offer seating for 25+1 passengers.
Considering inclusive travel, these buses are equipped with hydraulic e-ramps for differently-abled passengers, making boarding and alighting easy and safe. Additionally, with just 30 minutes of rapid charging, these buses can travel up to 225 kilometers, enabling efficient and uninterrupted service. The buses will operate on 11 key routes across the city.
