Directs NDS Squad and Traffic Police to Address Congestion
Municipal Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari on Tuesday (Feb. 17) inspected the parking facility on the road leading from Jaiprakash Nagar Metro Station to Orange Street.
During the inspection, the Commissioner reviewed measures required to ease traffic congestion on the stretch.

He directed that a team from the Nuisance Detection Squad (NDS) and traffic police personnel be deployed to ensure that vehicles are not parked on the road. He also instructed officials to install proper directional signboards.
Present on the occasion were Chief Engineer Manoj Talewar, Superintending Engineer Lina Upadhye, Deputy Director of Town Planning Girish Godbole, Executive Engineers Ravindra Bundhade and Anil Gedam, Assistant Director of Town Planning Ruturaj Jadhav, Zonal Assistant Commissioner Dhananjay Jadhav, and Project Engineer Rajiv Gautam.

It was observed that during peak hours, vehicles are being parked on the road from the Jaiprakash Nagar Metro Station square on Wardha Road towards Orange Street, leading to traffic congestion. The Commissioner also inspected parking arrangements made by commercial establishments along the route for their customers.

He directed the management of commercial establishments to ensure adequate parking facilities for four-wheelers and two-wheelers within the next 15 days.
Additionally, he instructed that NMC’s NDS team coordinate with the traffic police department to deploy personnel on Orange Street. Shop owners were directed to prominently display signboards indicating availability of parking facilities so that customers can easily notice them.
He further suggested that establishment staff be deployed to ensure that no vehicles are parked on the road.
