Acting on credible intelligence, the Wathoda Police Station booked nine persons for allegedly gambling at an open plot in Jijamata Nagar on Thursday evening.
The raid was conducted between 7 pm and 8.30 pm behind a residence at Plot No. 64, Jijamata Nagar. Police officials found the accused betting money while playing cards in the open space.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Manoj Krishna Bawane (23), Ghanshyam Murlidhar Dani (29), Jitesh Dekate (32), Ayush Sonarghare (22), Vikas Kamble (22), Yash Jhade (23), Pritam Salame (32), Kishor Bawane (28), and Rohit Kachhawa (30), all residents of Nandanvan, Nagpur.
Police confiscated ?5,420 in cash along with playing cards and other gambling materials from the spot. A case has been registered under Section 12 of the Maharashtra Gambling Prevention Act. Further investigation is underway.
The action was carried out under the supervision of senior officers from Zone 5 and Kalamna Division.
