A major push to modernise education is underway as the (NMC), in collaboration with the , has launched a Digital Computer Literacy Programme for students of Classes 6 to 10. Spearheaded under the leadership of and Additional Commissioner , the initiative seeks to introduce students to essential coding and technical skills at an early stage.
As part of the programme, students are undergoing hands-on training in , a block-based coding platform. Using English-language commands, they are designing interactive games, digital stories, animations and even mandala art projects — blending creativity with technology.
The experiential learning model is strengthening critical thinking, problem-solving skills and creativity among students at GM Banatwala English Secondary School, Garib Nawaz Urdu Higher Secondary School and Surendragarh Hindi Secondary School.
The curriculum has already covered key modules on cyber awareness, internet safety and cybercrime prevention. According to Education Officer and , COO of the Hope Foundation, the next phase will introduce advanced programming languages such as Python and emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI). By embedding these future-ready skills into the academic framework, the NMC aims to prepare its students to compete globally and seize emerging career opportunities.
